Stepping Out and Stepping Up for Positive Coaching Alliance- Los Angeles

09.26.2019

Our annual Stadium Stampede was held on the beautiful campus of UCLA last month, marking another impactful day in the world of sports! Everyone arrived in style and was met with smiles from the UCLA baseball team and PCA staff ready to get the party started. The music was pumping and people were eager to start moving! The energy was contagious throughout the warm-up, led by Personal Trainer & Strength and Conditioning Coach, Jake Richardson representing The Blue Print LA. The warm-up set the mood for the day and what was to come.

Over 80 people showed up ready to give high fives to everyone there and ready to be a part of something meaningful.

It was so fun watching everyone interact throughout the day and support one another while working out for an amazing cause! A very special thank you to Students Run LA for coming to the event as the largest group there, representing what it means to work as a team towards a common goal!

We raised nearly $20,000 through online, offline, and in-kind donations which will go directly to PCA-LA to provide the tools and resources to support youth sports throughout Southern California and deliver the message that every kid who participates in athletics deserves a safe, healthy, and positive experience!

Sports teach us much more than a skill, they teach us life skills we need to succeed in this world! At PCA, we develop BETTER ATHLETES, BETTER PEOPLE through sports done right, and this event was a small representation of the work we do every day to provide the best experience we can for people who deserve it, because every kid deserves a little PCA in their lives! We are raising the future generation of young athletes to lead by example and always compete with JOY!

Behind the scenes:

When people attend an event, they are experiencing the final product, the end of a long process of what it takes to put something like this together. The team at PCA - LA (staff and interns) worked on this event for over 3 months! My co-interns, Dominique and Alexa were instrumental in helping to coordinate the logistics, vendors, and prizes to assure that the event ran smoothly. We began the process by coming together to discuss how we wanted the event to be orchestrated, and how we wanted to represent PCA through the entire planning process.

We knew we wanted to have snacks and hydration, we wanted to give something to everyone who participated, and we wanted to reward the teams who raised the most money (because everyone loves a little competition). We started by reaching out to potential sponsors willing to donate product to us for the event! We got some big names (Propel, KIND, GoGo Squeez, Good Crips, Bare Snacks) to donate which accounted for all of the snacks and hydration we provided for the event! We wanted to recognize everyone who donated to our event in a special way by providing the best possible prizes for them to enjoy. Through the use of our network, fundraising skills, and charm we got some awesome prizes!

  • The Dodgers Foundation donated 4 lower level tickets to a game (parking included)
  • The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation donated 4 VIP ticket to a UCLA Football game (all you can eat food, pre-game tailgate party, and parking)
  • Kendra Scott donated 3 beautiful pieces of jewelry!
  • Soul Cycle donated a 5-class series!
  • Simms Family Restaurants donated a gift card!
  • Tocaya Organica donated a gift card
  • Dicks Sporting Goods donated multiple gift certificates!
  • Score Sports donated amazing merchandise for our young athletes in attendance!
  • UCLA Health collaborated with the Lakers and donated clear tote bags along with a rally towel for everyone!

We really could not have done this without the support of these organizations! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! When everyone at the event walks away with a SWAG bag filled with goodies and a SMILE, you know the event was a success! On to the next!
