PCA's Impact on Departing Board Chair, Rick Herrero

04.02.2019

Recently, Rick Herrero announced his departure from PCA-SF Bay Area Chapter Board. Since 2016, Rick Herrero has overseen the SF Bay Area Chapter Board as Chairman. From the list of events accomplished with the Board, his favorite memories surround around the families positively impacted by the organization including the “the expressions on the faces of the families at the scholarship dinners with the Sharks and Giants”.  In a message to the Chapter board, he shares this farewell:

Dear Fellow PCA Board Members,

The time has arrived for me to stop hogging the Chairman’s chair, hang up my whistle and give someone else the opportunity to guide this fine Chapter and fabulous Board. Since taking the handoff from Chip in the fall of 2016 we’ve accomplished some wonderful things together. The expressions on the faces of the families at the scholarship dinners with the Sharks and Giants stand out as well as the continuing popularity of the 3V3 basketball tournament hosted with our beloved Warrior’s. Most importantly however, what happens before, during and after game day, on the field of play, in the dug-outs and locker rooms, during the car rides home with parents and around the family dinner table is where you’ll find our greatest and most enduring good work.

Since 2003 when I first started experimenting with PCA teachings and techniques in my business and on my two boys, now 24 and 25, PCA has continued to shape my way of operating in the world. PCA taught me how to improve the experience of young people and parents in sports and positive ways to inspire workers to accomplish team goals.

PCA made me a better coach, better boss, better friend, and certainly a better father. It’s that simple.

I will be forever grateful to Jim Thompson for creating PCA, to all the working men and women of the organization who execute the mission and define our culture every day. To all the players, coaches and parents who bring the lessons of PCA to life and especially to all my fellow Board Members, past and present, who have given so much of their time, passion, emotional and financial support I thank you for the opportunity to serve. It’s been an honor.

Going forward with our new Executive Director Michael Mowery and his impressive experience, with our strong National brand awareness and our talented local Board, truly, the sky is the limit and the stage is well set for a new Chairman and ready for the light of a new beginning.

Please contact either Michael, Jeff Dale or me if you feel your time has come for leading this incredible group.

Thank you all for your service and your friendship,

Rick Herrero

With his Positive Coaching Alliance chapter coming to a close, we wish Rick Herrero the best. We greatly appreciated all of your support and leadership! Thanks, Rick!
