Lawrence Hamilton is a baseball and basketball player from Saint Petersburg Catholic High School. Not only does he focus on growing as a player, but also wants to be a role model for his teammates. “As an athlete, I make myself better by being the first one to practice, and the last one to leave. This determination helps me become a better player on and off the field. I see myself as coachable; with any suggestions being beneficial to my growth as a player. I write my goals down so I can be held accountable for them. I strive to be the best player I can be, and you won’t find anyone else work as hard as I do.”
Lawrence’s coach sees him honoring the game, something that is missing for a lot of his players. “Lawrence is as fine an example of 'leading by example' as anyone I’ve ever coached. While he is a good player, his impact on our team was far greater from an attitude standpoint than a playing standpoint. While maintaining a strong work ethic on his personal improvement, he also did everything he could to be there for struggling teammates. He is a great example of the name on the front of the jersey is the only one that matters. He honors the game by doing all the little things with pride.”
