Yukiko "Kiko" Flennaugh

Girls Basketball Coach, St. Mary's Academy

Kiko grew up a multi-sport athlete in Bend, Oregon and has always been passionate about advocating for girls to have opportunities in athletics. While growing up, she competed in basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field and swimming. She also enjoyed going to Mt. Bachelor on the weekends to ski. As a point guard at Western Oregon University, she led her team to a sweet-16 finish and a final four appearance and never missed a game in four years. She finished her career being voted to the NAIA all-tournament team at the Final Four. Even now, 25 years later she is still in the record book for free throws, three-pointers, and assists.

Coaching has been part of Kiko's life since she was a teenager when she began teaching swim lessons and coaching soccer. She has coached basketball and soccer in Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Washington and at an International School in Dalian, China. You will often find Kiko alongside her husband Damon watching their daughter Nicole play basketball or their son Trejan run track.

Kiko coaches girls basketball at St. Mary’s Academy.  As a basketball coach, she believes one important aspect of her role is leading and mentoring teenage girls. Kiko has over 20 years coaching experience and through coaching and daily interaction, she strives to model confidence, leadership skills and good communication to her players.
