Carla Christofferson is the Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, the Firm's largest office. During her 20-year career, Carla has represented companies as diverse as ExxonMobil and Trader Joe’s, and entertainment litigation involving multi-million dollar intellectual property rights for both a major motion picture studio and independent film companies.
In addition to her legal practice, Carla has played a vital role in the leadership of O’Melveny, overseeing the development of training, mentoring, evaluation, and recruiting programs as the Talent Development Partner from 2004 to 2006; serving on the Firm’s five-attorney Executive Committee; and acting as the Firm’s National Hiring Partner. She currently is a member of the Firm’s Policy Committee.
Outside of O’Melveny, Carla serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations, including the Los Angeles Library Foundation, the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles, and High Tech Los Angeles, which is a charter high school. She was also a co-owner of the WNBA Los Angeles Sparks from December 2006 to January 2014.
Carla was named the 2010 “Litigator of the Year” by the Century City Bar Association, as one of the “100 Most Influential Lawyers in California” by the Los Angeles Daily Journal , as well as regularly appearing on the Daily Journal’s “Top 100 Women Lawyers” and “Top Women Litigators” lists.
Carla grew up in a small town in North Dakota, earning a B.A. in Communications from the University of North Dakota in 1989 and a J.D. from Yale Law School in 1992. Carla currently lives in Studio City with her husband, Adam Shell, their 5-year-old son, Jackson, and 3-year-old daughter, Emerson.
